One of the first things people ask when cultivating a friendship or any type of relationship is…
“What do you do?” But what are they really asking? If they asked you “Who are you?” Would you know how to respond? I am sure that most of us would fumble over that answer.
Who are you, really? Are you a teacher? What does that mean? Who are you meant to teach, does that even matter?
All of the existential questions are creeping up in our hearts and minds now more than ever. I have struggled with separating myself from the label of being an attorney, more specifically, the identity that others attach to it, like my mother and my kids. Let’s face it, it’s way easier for a teenager to say, my mom is an attorney; than it is for them to say, “my mom is a spiritual teacher who talks to dead people, with a little witch sprinkled in for pizzazz.”
The latter is a far more accurate depiction of WHO I am, instead of WHAT I do. But so many of us pin our identity to what we do and derive our worth and value from that place, also. The current times are an upheaval that brings into question what we will be doing tomorrow. Will the job, that we have hitched up our identity to, even exist next week?
Associating our identity with what we do is hollow and will leave us stranded with no compass, so easily because that role isn’t attached to us, so why should we be attached to it. You are a unique soul who is here for a purpose – not a job. A job may further your purpose, but that is not your why.
My why is so closely aligned with who I am that I have difficulty discerning where my why stops and I start. My why is to demonstrate that as a woman, you have divine sovereignty to create the most amazing experience and HAVE IT ALL, without apology. If I can do it, so can you. So what do I do? I give women the platform to find exactly what they want in life and cultivate the experience they most desire… Who am I? Anything I want to be!
I invite you to look at your experience and identify one thing that you can change or include that will shift your perception, just a little bit. A shift of one degree here puts you in an entirely different destination a week, a month and year from now.
Who do you want to be?
I will be someone who helps people shift there energy, one small step at a time. Also, I love the picture you chose for this blog.
